Tower of Modula 0.2.0 Patch Notes


A few folks got a chance to play this early prototype of a game before I even posted it to itch. So, this set of patch notes is for their sake.

v.0.2.0

New Content

  • Floor 4, Floor 5, and the resting chambers after Floor 3 have been added
  • Vampire now has an Overworld sprite
  • Vampire, Wizard, and Jester now have portraits
  • Added a Combat Log you can read during battle
  • You can now hover your mouse over a character inflicted with a Status Effect to read a description of the Status Effect.

Fixes and Changes

  • Fixed issue where accessing Skills menu in overworld would freeze the game
  • Skill Scroll descriptions now describe what the Skills do
  • Removed "Formation" from Main Menu
  • Disabled Dashing on all maps
  • Added character names to dialogue boxes
  • Changed MP cost of Shove from 1 to 2.
  • Changed Corny Joke's success rate from 50% to 75%.
  • Removed the "Base Damage" estimates from skill descriptions, as I feel it would eventually become more misleading than helpful.
  • Slightly reduced the duration of on-screen battle log messages, to slightly speed up battle
  • Fixed bug where the Revive spell wasn't healing 15 HP after reviving.
  • Changed text that displays when examining a monster you already defeated
  • Changed text that displays when defeating the boss on F3.
  • You can no longer walk over the bottles of drinks after you drink them.
  • You can no longer use skills while outside of battle
  • Although this stat is currently invisible from the player, I've varied the Agility stats of the playable characters and enemies to create more variety in the turn order

Known Issues

  • Battle: Player characters are offset in a strange way. When they have status effects, the icons above their heads are offset, not aligning properly with the character who has the status effect.
  • All of the game's audio consists of placeholder RPG Maker songs and sound effects
  • Many menu categories in the main menu are empty or redundant
  • Text is overlapping strangely with menu elements in the main menu
  • The icon for the status effect Bleed is blue and purple, which is as the asset was created but I think it is confusing
